We are saddened to have lost one of Western Australia’s premier artists, Carol Rudyard who passed away in May this year, aged 99.
Carol was a role model for a generation of Australian women artists. A Western Australian State Living Treasure and the only Western Australian artist to receive the prestigious Keating Fellowship, Carol was at the forefront of painting, audio-visual, installation and digital art, holding a singular place as one of the country’s leading visual innovators. We are privileged to represent Rudyard’s work across photography and painting in The Wesfarmers Collection.
Seen here is her 1972 painting Continuum a major work of colourfield abstraction is one of more than 60 major works of art from The Wesfarmers Collection which toured Australia from 2012-2015 in the exhibition LUMINOUS WORLD: contemporary art from the Wesfarmers Collection.
