Robert Fielding
1969 - Piti munu wana 2019- bronze, gold leaf and woven camel hair
Robert Fielding is a contemporary artist of Pakistani, Afghan, Western Arrente and Yankunytjatjara descent, who lives in Mimili Community in the remote Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands.
These bronze objects were cast from carved and ornamented wood bowls and digging sticks made in collaboration with two of the senior leaders of Mimili, Sammy and Ngilan Dodd. They were exhibited as part of a body of work produced by Fielding for his recent exhibition Routes/Roots at Linden New Art, Melbourne in February 2020 and in response to a visit to the archives at the South Australian Museum in Adelaide where the artist encountered many unattributed objects that were taken from his home of Mimili Community, formerly known as Everard Park Station.
